So on our last day in Colorado we decided to hit Blue River, This place was amazing!
The day started out at 56 degrees @ 7am and quickly hit 88 by 10am, water is super clear and very healthy, making for some good size fish!

The “Golden Trout” of OC

Here’s a sampling of the “golden trout” available in the OC. They provide blistering runs well into the backing. This one was about 24-26″ long. No idea on its weight. Caught it on a leech pattern with a 5wt using 4x tippet.

Saturday morning we decided to try our luck in OC. We hit the Santa Ana river and Franco’s Hot spot for some bluegill and bass action!

Very Large Bluegill?

My brother had a few minutes to burn before work today so he decided to hit a local lake and catch bluegill. After hookin’ a few of our warm water friends, he managed to get the attention of this rather large, urban variety, bluegill using his 9′ 5wt with 4x tippet, a strike indicator and a #14 flashback PT. So….just what exactly do they feed those fish in the OC?

Santa Ana River

Did some scouting ’round the Santa Ana River in Yorba Linda. The water was murky and I didn’t see any fish (it was late in the evening) but it looks rather promising.
