So on our last day in Colorado we decided to hit Blue River, This place was amazing!
The day started out at 56 degrees @ 7am and quickly hit 88 by 10am, water is super clear and very healthy, making for some good size fish!

We got up early and amp’d, only to ask ourselves “What The Hell Are We doing Wrong?”
Waterflows were High and Fast, The Hatch became stagnant.. pretty much killing off all activity we had on Friday.
I think between all ( 5 ) of us, we pulled in or hooked about 6-7 trout.. maybe tomorrow will be better.

Anyhow we made it to Bishop with plenty of fishing time, despite getting pulled over, stopping at Manzanar, and Culvers Sporting Goods.

So it finally happened. Busted by the man. No biggie.
Flies @ Kmart?

The title say’s it all!
When BB and I went to Bishop for our second run, we stopped by Kmart. To my surprise we found a wide selection of Fly Fishing gear @ every day low prices, wait that’s Wal-Mart.. Here’s one thing that stood out amongst the items we saw.
20 Flies for $4.49
I don’t know what kind of quality these flies were, but 20 flies for a couple of bux is not bad specially if your gonna loose them.

Fly Fishing the Owens

De’ and I were able to get some fly fishing in on the Lower Owens, just outside of Bishop, only to be met with throngs of people, bitter cold winds and an unexpected reservoir spill which nearly ruined the fishing for both of us on Saturday, but not our spirits. Always chasing after the next adventure, we redoubled our efforts starting early in the wild trout section for a few unfruitful hours then headed up to the Upper Owens. What a contrast! Mild temperatures, gentle breezes, partly cloudy skies and easy wading made for a perfect closure to the trout opener weekend. It was nearly a non-stop bite fishing upstream in the seams using a #18 gray crystal zebra midge on 5x tippet. I caught and released 15 for the weekend. Here are a few pics for the masses. Enjoy!
